About HLW
We are a small manufacturer of premium quality dog collars and leads - specializing in miniature tartan plaids - located in Seattle, Washington. Our products are hand tailored in the USA.
The HLW line was first introduced in 1988 in New York City at Macy's Herald Square.
Macy's advertised the line as the "Ralph Lauren" of collars and leads. Its dog and cat products were marketed for the next 10 years at prestige pet boutiques, Orvis, Eddie Bauer and other specialty merchants.
HLW Tartan and Safari styles were favorites of Harrods of London and Selfridges customers for nearly a decade. Our line was so Scottish-looking, tourists and British shoppers believed
the products were made in Scotland!
Production ceased in 1998, a year after its foun-
der took an executive position at Nordstrom in Seattle.
Ongoing requests for our exclusive tartans and the growth of the internet compelled us to go back
into production in late 2007.
